Getting Back to Basics: Simple Photo Booth Backdrop Ideas

October 17th, – Not everyone wants an over-the-top showy wedding, and that’s A-OK!  Sometimes you can say more with understated class, and carefully-chosen accents, than you can with bright colors and baroque design elements everywhere. This can be true of everything from your basic signage to larger elements like the backdrops you use for your head table or photo booth.

With so many people choosing to add photo booths to their wedding, we thought we’d take a moment to address those who want to keep things on the simple side. There are plenty of photo booth backdrops you could deploy that still make your photo booth interesting, without being garish or distracting.

Keeping It Simple:  Finding A Basic Photo Booth Backdrop That Isn’t Too Showy

  1. Flat colors

Why be fancy?   Flat-color backdrops are extremely inexpensive, so you could have several available for use for what it would cost to have one fancy or customized photo booth backdrop.  That way, guests could swap out based on their own preferences.

Or, pick all the colors to be your favorites – matching the design of the wedding – so that every photo booth picture will keep to the overall style.

  1. Ombré

Whenever you’re fading between two different colors on one plane, that’s an Ombré – and they’re easier than ever to create thanks to computerized graphic design and printing.  What used to be an incredibly difficult effect to achieve can now be done quickly and easily.  An Ombré photo booth backdrop could easily incorporate the main colors from your wedding, while creating an extremely classy effect for the resulting pictures – much like a professional posed photo.

  1. Step and Repeat Patterns

For something a little more visually interesting than plain colors, but without being too much, a step and repeat pattern backdrop could be the perfect choice.  Step and repeats are simple patterns, such as geometric figures, that are repeated over and over.  These are good when you want to make sure the subjects of the photos really stand out from the backdrop, with a distinct background behind them.

  1. Framing

Another good choice for adding just a little visual interest to backdrops is a framing or border effect.  The border creates a nice space for the photo subjects to be in, without distracting or being too gaudy.  When paired with a flat color or Ombré, it’s classical, distinctive, and yet still subtle enough to be tasteful and unobtrusive – perfect for a wedding that’s trying to keep things simple.
